We decided to end the year with our blog superlatives. Our winners were selected by our social media team after a very lengthy nomination process. Each day this week, we’ll share one of our superlative winners. Please feel free to share your comments below as we’d like to hear if we voted for your choice!
Our second winner is Elizabeth Clark. Elizabeth has been a regular guest blogger for SimpleCents and her first post was definitley award-worthy. Check out “Your Right to Pursue Happiness.” Read on…
SimpleCents is trying something new…we will feature guest bloggers on a regular basis. Here’s our first post from Liz Clark, Member Services Coordinator:
In the Declaration of Independence, Americans declared our right to pursue happiness. No one said anything about sitting in a chair by the phone hoping happiness will finally call. We have to go out and earn our happiness wherever or whatever that may be. No person, or government, or credit union is responsible for giving you happiness, but they are responsible for allowing you the opportunity to go out and grab your happiness by the tail, or horns…big toe?
Anyway, you may have noticed I mentioned credit unions. As I’m sure you are aware, that was not by accident. As it happens, South Carolina Federal Credit Union plays a significant role in my pursuit of happiness. You may be mumbling to yourself something about weirdoes and not wanting to meet me in a dark alley, but before you pass judgment, hear me out.
I recently purchased my first house and the happiness that I’m pursuing right now is to make that house completely mine. Inevitably, I make a lot of trips to home improvement stores, Targets, Wal-Marts, and even a K-Mart or two. As I’m spending money using either my debit card or my credit card, I’m earning CURewards points. In addition to that, my eChecking account allows me to earn 200 points per bill I pay online up to 5,000 points a month. All of these points add up, and those points equal gift cards. Gift cards I can use to make my house my own and achieve the happy Zen-like feeling I am searching for.
So what about you? How are you pursuing your happiness? Do you want some tips on how you can maximize your CURewards earnings? I have them, you must only ask. You must ask though, don’t wait by the phone for me to call, pursue the information highway to happiness!
This post was written by Liz Clark who has written one post on SimpleCents:
I am a single mother of two dogs and two cats (all adopted) and recently purchased my first home. I am a graduate of Winthrop University and of the School of Hard Knocks. I enjoy reading, writing, playing guitar, spending time with family, watching movies and taking naps on rainy days. I would be much better at riding a bicycle if I could stop. I am a credit card/debit card maven and am here to guide you through the pitfalls of the plastics.
