The Lowcountry Food Bank feeds 4,166 kids every month through Kids Cafe, BackPack Buddies and the School Pantry. South Carolina Federal Credit Union employees participate in BackPack Buddies every month throughout the school year–packing bags for local students so they have nutritious food to eat during the weekend.
The credit union’s Young & Free SC program also helps support the Lowcountry Food Bank by sponsoring the Annual Student Food Drive. This month-long hunger relief campaign kicked off October 1. Several high schools are participating by promoting the drive, collecting food and packaging the food for delivery. Last year, participating schools collected 29,266 pounds of food for our community!
Coming up in March, is the Lowcountry Food Bank’s biggest fundraiser–Chef’s Feast. The credit union sponsors this amazing event that features local chefs preparing some of their delicious recipes. This event raises money for the Food Bank’s Childhood Hunger Programs.
