It's a Wonderful Life

It’s almost Easter, so why highlight a classic Christmas movie?  According to Move Your Money, a few friends were having dinner late in 2009, and their conversation centered around “personal actions they could take to help limit the power of the big banks and create a more sane, stable financial system… “  Not surprisingly, someone recalled the story told in the classic film It’s a Wonderful Life – you probably remember the small-town banker’s struggle against Mr. Potter and the “big bank.”

That dinner discussion was the genesis behind Move Your Money, a viral effort to encourage people to move their money from the “big banks” to community banks and credit unions.  It must have touched a nerve, as the media has picked up their story and their Facebook page has acquired over 35,000 fans!   Thousands have posted comments saying they’ve switched financial institutions.

I’ll bet you have a close friend or family member who is looking for a new financial partner but just hasn’t popped the question yet.  Feel free to recommend South Carolina Federal – we’d love to help you or someone you know switch to a credit union!
