BRAVO! That’s all I can say to these amazing applicants for the 2010 Young & Free spokesperson search! We had an amazing turnout of applicants this year, truly a unique and diverse crowd of people. Narrowing the list down to our top three was NOT easy. But, after multiple meetings and countless sleepless nights, the top three were announced to the world.
Being a past Young & Free applicant, I know the blood, sweat and tears that are put into a campaign of this magnitude. It involves maintaining your daily responsibilities, then squeezing creativity out of yourself, as if you were squeezing a lemon to make lemonade. It requires you to reach beyond your day to day thoughts and ideas, and pioneer into uncharted creative territories. It’s not simple, but it’s totally worth it. For me, the 2009 spokesperson search changed my life. I learned new talents and developed new life goals.
Each of our top three applicants have shared their stories on Simple Cents this week, and I can tell that this has been a positive experience for them all. The hardest truth to face is that only one person will fill the shoes of our spokesperson. Being a runner up, I know the feeling of not being that person.
So, I extend this encouragement to anyone reading this article –Maybe you didn’t get that dream job-or promotion-or that cute girl that you met at Barnes and Noble. That doesn’t mean you’ve lost, that means you get to try again. Don’t ever stop doing what you love. Don’t ever stop being YOU.
A huge “Thank You!” to the 2010 Young & Free applicants, and to their friends and families for their support.
